Doesn’t mean all is rainbows and unicorns, though. ![]()
They say the blues is when a very good person feels very bad. They also say that if you manage to sing it backwards, your dog will come back to life, your spouse will return to you, and you will get out of prison. ![]()
Suvora was a daughter of a coward. With the tribe’s matrilineal tradition, she had no chance to start a family on Ketuwa: no one would want the accursed bloodline. And on top of that, she had to find a way around these never-ending scornful jibes.
Somehow, she’d conditioned herself to just shrug it off and laugh with everybody. Suvora the Jester, they’d nicknamed her. But now and then, she’d run off into the mountains, climb the highest crag and sit there alone, staring down into the valley. Was she thinking of leaving? Or contemplating stepping off the edge of the precipice?
Still, in her own good time she’d climb down and continue to fight for, and serve, her people: what else was there to do? This was home.
So, Mademoiselle chante le blues.
The only Patricia Kaas’ song that I liked enough to dig up its lyrics and drop them into Google Translate.
Elle a du gospel dans la voix et elle y croit.
‘She has gospel in her voice and she believes in it.’ That’s how Google Translate puts it, anyway.![]()
This work was inspired by the following:
-
Coyote Summer, by Luis Royo: this is the prime mover, so to speak.

-
To a much lessed degree, A Thousand Words for a Stranger, also by Luis Royo.
-
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. ‘Nothing you can take from me was ever worth keeping.’

-
Several (other) songs I liked over the years, such as Still Got the Blues, by Gary Moore, and the Famous Eruption’s One Way Ticket.
-
Larissa Liveir’s YouTube channel, to which I am a faithful subscriber.

Technically, the character’s base mesh and rig came from MakeHuman (not the skin shader, though), and Substace Painter 2020 was used to initially texture the clothing. The rest, as far as I know, is pure Blender (can’t speak for the Blender Market and Blendswap assets).
So, while mademoiselle chante le blues, I should probably try to sing it backwards: God knows, I’ve already tried everything else.![]()
