Is there a list of all available branches?
Not yet, only handful of branches have builds, until Devs start building their Branches then we migh get a list, I am sure the website will get revamped with an available list to make it easier for users to download a certain build at least that’s the plan.
What’s unfair? life also is unfair but each Person is different, this is not a contest or a comparison between the Devs but each have skills and interest, I have seen other Devs work and they tend to follow certain process and stick to their plans it’s not something bad since they are core developers and they have to stick to this, but if you look at Pablo and what he has done in the past 6-9 months it’s clear that he deviates from all of this, maybe because he is new and young and still eager to explore until he become more experienced and bored after many years of active development.
Blender needs a lead artist that can make developers do their work. The other day somebody made a nice UI widget proposal to rotate the camera while drawing(as rotate in 2d like any other 2d software)and a developer said what’s wrong with pressing shift 4 and shift 6 to rotate…He obviously has never tried to draw in his life. Same thing when somebody mentioned baking light maps for Eevee using cycles. A blender developer said it would be too complicated and blah blah blah. Well somebody made an add-on that does exactly that. This is huge. Developers are conformists.
Well, that’s a classic in all the main 3D programs when you have programmers designing tools for artists.
I’ve noticed that sculpt is less responsive in the latest 2.81 build
With a 1 million poly model
Grab brush with a 500 px radius
Blender 2.80 : 3.8 fps
Blender 2.81 alpha : 2.27 fps
From the day old account… ![]()
Just tried the new Draw Sharp brush in Blender 2.81 alpha, and it doesn’t work with Dyntopo.
Really happy with the Topology Automasking option though.
Wow, and I
the Elastic Deform and Pose brush.

By the way, I noticed that Shift + double-clicking LMB to smooth a mask deactivates Dyntopo. I’ve reported that as a bug.
Anybody know which merge option Pablo’s going with out of the three listed at the bottom on the Sculpt Branch Status Report?
Is anyone playing with the new Sculpt Mode features that have been added in the latest 2.81 alpha build?
When you create a mask, then Shift + double-click LMB it gets smoothed, but also expands. This function is called Mask Smooth All in the Preferences.
I would like to assign the regular Sculpt menu ➔ Smooth Mask function to that keyboard shortcut. Is that possible?
Thanks.
Press A. There’s a new radial menu that includes all masks operations.
Super, thanks!

No problem

Mask extract to create a new mesh out of a mask has been merged to master, and I think it has a good border finition on the extracted mesh

Why on earth did they renamed Blur to Smooth? Can’t blender stick with the standards for once? Damn. ![]()
Also mask expand operator is in. Press shift A to execute topological masking and shift alt A for curvature masking. Found a bug if you try topological masking while in lookdev or render view it crashes.
I think the softening operations in other modes use the smooth name, so renaming it would add consistency.
Still, I would find a different but still descriptive name as pretty minor. Don’t forget Blender has changed to be more standard in areas that actually have a dramatic effect on usability (ie. left-click selection).
This is non-sensical consistency (which happens a lot in blender btw). The other modes got nothing to do with the sculptng mode. In almost all sculpting apps this operation is called Blur, heck, even SculptGL got it right.
BF really needs a refresh in the UI/UX department.
I don’t know that either. But in my masking panel it’s still blur. ![]()

Hahaha, zbrush style, you naughty boy.
So I guess fixing crap by hand with some bloody python is the way to go.
