The big Blender Sculpt Mode thread (Part 2)

It doesn’t work for me…

Does anyone else have these major exploding polygons / viewport artifacts in Blender 3.4 alpha for Windows as soon as you activate Dyntopo in Constant Detail mode and start using the Snake Hook brush?

Ah, thanks guys!

I’m still waiting for this bug to be fixed :anchor: T98889 Regression: Sculpting on a linked copy of an objects crashes Blender
High prio!

It really drives me crazy. I have faith though, hopefully fixed with 3.4 final.

can you do ‘make duplicate real’ ?

Well yes but that isn’t what i want. Yeah i could make the linked copy a single user copy, sculpt and ctrl l object data but that is more of a workaround. The bugs needs to go.

It is not fixed in master, yet. But Joe fixed it in sculpt-dev branch.

What about using geometry nodes to reference the mesh data instead of the system linked duplicates uses? You have to tab to edit or object mode to see the update after sculpting though :frowning:
Surprisingly you get an update on both objects after doing a remesh. If only there was a way to remesh without remeshing? OH, you can turn dyntopo on and off and then when you navigate the viewport again the other mesh will update. You can also shield or unshield the mesh data block and the next time you navigate the mesh will update. Also switching between solid/wireframe and material preview does it and toggling a useless modifier.

Thanks for the info.

The Dyntopo bug has been fixed in today’s build! Thanks, @joeedh ! :+1:

It looks like the build is only available for Mac users at the moment.

The dyntopo viewport artifacts fix is in the regular alpha (master) too already…
But there are still some random crashes tho…

I’m using the latest daily Blender 3.4 alpha build for Windows. I’ve stopped using Sculpt Dev quite a while ago.

I’m still using a very old build with dyntopo performance, it’s stable enough for me.

Just tried the latest 3.4 build and noticed that the new Automasking options don’t work with Dyntopo enabled. Is that a known issue?

Hmm, didn’t see any mention of that… so :point_right: image
