thanks guys
The snow doesnt really look like snow… :S I think it has tendency to look blue… or even if it doesnt… People propably recognise it as snow easier if it has tint of blue.
Well I suppose that’s the case when it’s reflecting the sky:) Or maybe it’s just me and my stupid theories… Dunno really.
are you going for realism? Snow is actually pretty textured, you may want to put a really fine bump on it, and maybe use SSS.
an update:
Keep the naked man. It made this thread for me.
snow is blue when it has shadows cast on it.
I changed the snow texture
yet another update:
by the way, i hope to do a spring version some time.
heres one with mist i did with GIMP
i think i’m almost there!
Oh, good improvement. For the icicles I suggest make those a little more “random”. I mean try and put 3 or 4 icicles big and little together side by side then jump to another part of your roof and make the same with 2 or 3 and so on.
The snow begins to work in a good way, you could add a very little and fine clouds texture and map it to Nor.
i think i need a better sky image. I suck at that sort of stuff
For the sky I see really a lot of stars, you should try to cut their number.
For the moon I add a halo behind it with exact the same color as the moon to make the light fade in the surrounding. Then you could add a global blend for the sky itself with a lighter color at the horizon and darker at the zenith.
and thats all in blender?
You need falling snow! tons of it!
i know what halos are.
just not sky blend.
Thanks for the links
OK,
you are probably going to think i am stupid…
I have been using a backbuf image for the sky…
How do i do it the right way?
I changed the moon
