I still have no idea how best to setup light fixtures.

Initially I thought the dim lighting of the original was caused by light falloff since most older blendswap scenes have 50 foot high ceilings

It was actually dim because the wood textures were using glossy shaders only so didn’t bounce much light around.

Help with Geometry Nodes based Neon Sign (prime)?

Blend Swap | Excavator

This ancient Blender 2.4x file on blendswap (excavator) has an interesting approach to parenting/grouping. On one particular Layer (Collection) they have placed every Empty that is the parent of logical groups of objects.

They have hidden that layer to reduce visual clutter. Whenever they need to move a “group” they would show that layer to find the group parent.

How to set alternating materials on geometry node instances that use multiple materials?
