Just wanted to let everyone know that I’ve asked @bartv to lower my Blender Artists user level to a non-moderator level.
I’m working mostly with other 3D editors lately (for example, I’m really enjoying the minimalistic UI / UX of MagicaCSG), and my involvement in the Blender (Artists) community has gradually reduced during the past couple of years. This also means that I’m not keeping up with the latest Blender developments as much as I used to do.
All this makes it harder to keep actively moderating BA, hence my request to Bart. It doesn’t mean my love for Blender (Artists) and its community has gone though. I expect to keep visiting BA regularly, probably daily. And who knows… Maybe I’ll return to being a complete Blenderhead again sometime in the future.
─ UPDATE:
Well… Lo and behold… I’m back as a moderator, sort of, haha.
I needed to manage a leftover administrative task that turned out to need moderator status. Bart kindly offered to temporarily reinstate me as a mod, and I thought: “Might as well remain a mod, but on the back burner, not as active as before.”
Fellow moderators, I’ll be available for backup and advice if you need me.
You might be right when it comes to using Blender, but I don’t think I’ll return to moderating again. I consider this my Blender Artists moderator retirement.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
I can now start heated off-topic discussions, and make my former moderator colleagues sweat.
Speaking of colleagues, the only moderator I have seen posting frequently as of recent is Joseph, where are the others? I know the forum remains pretty well kept regardless, but I am used to spotting more of them on any given day.
I’m still a big fan of your artwork, so I’ll follow your other media accounts. I’ve already followed your artstation, but I’ve noticed most of the action is on twitter and mastodon. Perhaps it’s time for me to make some accounts
What I like most about MagicaCSG are the following features:
Very accessible and efficient UI and UX.
Everything is fully non-destructive. You can at any time go back to the earliest shapes you made and adjust them.
The renderer is great as well.
Right now, in the beta stage, you need to become a Patreon supporter to use MCSG, but I think the software is definitely worth spending a fiver a month to aid its development. When the first release version is ready, it might be released for free, then new betas might remain Patreon-supported, I don’t know the developer’s plans for that.
Thanks for your work on here mate.
So many tools to try and so little time, I know from experience Blender will always be there when you need it. It is a tool I always fall back on.
All the best.
