Untitled Grave #1 short animation project.

I call this short,“Untitled Grave #1”. It’s going to be about 35 seconds long.

The main character is a girl named Minna. Here is her profile:
EDIT: Decided to change names, because I use these names too much and I wanted something new.

Name: Minna Merra
Eye color: Brown
Hair: Strawberry-blonde, wavy or curly, whichever happens to be the final product.
Age: around 17

Script

Minna opens the door and walks in, leaving the door a little open because she is going to leave in a moment, anyway.

Minna glances at the basket on the chest of drawers as her objective and advances toward it.

A guy knocks on door (he never enters the room, because all he is doing is telling Minna to turn off the radiator)and says...

Guy: "Hey, don't leave the heater on."

Minna: "Okay."

Minna bends down and reaches over to the radiator and turns the knob on the bottom counter-clockwise, while the guy leaves down the stairs(audiable footsteps, though not very loud).

She then turns to the basket and flips the handle up, and it flops to the other side.

Not knowing why she did that, she smiles a little at herself and grabs the basket and leaves.

Info:
All references available are at the bottom of this post.
Final frame size: 640x480
It’s going to be rendered in Blender Internal.

Here’s the layout of the room so far:

Have a nice life!

Here I have started on Rhia’s head. Been working on it for a couple of days now. I think the modeling isn’t half bad, really. But I’m not happy with the shader and texture. I need to LSCM map it better. If you have any tutorials for this type of thing, then don’t hesitate to tell me.

C&C is appreciated. Thanks.

I want to get good skin. But I can’t do very well alone. Although I have tried. I would post some examples, but I didn’t save any.

In this, I have put a blend file up on sh33p’s hosting (thanks,sh33p). Download it, and see how good you can get the skin. You can change anything you like, or use any of the textures in the file as you please.

The file is about 5 MB:
(Get rhia2.blend, I tried uploading rhia.blend, but I clicked something and it messed up)

http://www.samguzman.com/upload/data/rhia2.blend

I’m using the Blender CVS for this. It will still work in 2.41. You can get it here:

www.graphicall.org

Get the one called “Plain CVS”, that’s the one I saved in.

I’ll post some of my attempts up later, after I play with it some more.

Have fun, and good luck.

Just what I got after a few days work. C&C please.

good job on your model

how is this going at the moment.
Would it also be possible for you to provide references from google of the real things so we know what kind of furniture you want us to model. (that is if there is anything left to model)

Good work so far.

"Lei-Get knocks on door " does she open the door?
If Rhia leaves have you done the hallway connecting to the room?

First of all, thanks for your comments.

how is this going at the moment.

Actually, it’s going pretty decent. My skills are getting better with Blender, so the possibily of making this come true has gotten better, as well. I’ve also been practicing with my audio skills. As well as my voice acting skills(I’ll have to record that sometime and see what it sounds like).

If Rhia leaves have you done the hallway connecting to the room?

It’s not going to be in the shot, so we’re not going to need any detail work, though. Like objects in the hall.

"Lei-Get knocks on door " does she open the door?

No, she is standing over near her mirror and her basket.

I’ll post the storyboard maybe tomorrow to clarify what I mean.

(that is if there is anything left to model)

Yes, there are quite a bit of things to model.

The thing’s that need modeling are in my first post.

Here’s one thing you might try, a hymalain salt lamp.
http://www.internatural-alternative-health.com/himalayan-crystal-salt-lamp.cfm

Or, if you want a easier one, try the file cabinet.

Here’s some ref’s.

Don’t forget to check out the references I drew.

EDIT: Oh, and you can add your own prop, just ask what you want to model, and I’ll se if it can fit somewere.

A render of the room.

I can try to animate some of it? oh well later on

I’m getting closer to finishing texturing and materializing what I already have modeled. Anyone who wants to model anything, can. It doesn’t have to be great, just decent, like my renders.

human scary… Dont start over just think “life” Color, Drama… Lighting… Expressions… even in the base model the model should have a glint of life in the features of the face… Otherwise it’s a mold

Example Dont look for just models… Find out the natianlty of the model , their race and find small charectericts of that race , not huge ones just the small sudulties of the race or town…

You dont just call some one russian, there are all sorts of different russians same goes for China, japan, america islands… soo on

what do you still need modelled?

Thank you for those tips. The human is indeed kind of scary.

what do you still need modelled?

Here’s the list at the moment, you can check it for updates in the first post.

Things needing modeled or remodeled, difficulty in parenthises:

Initial:
-Blanket on bed. (imtermediate)
-Hymalain Salt Light with metal lock and wooden base. (intermediate to advanced, with reference)
-Pan holder. Metal pan, wood steps, wood handles, nylon strings.(easy to intermediate, with reference)
-Wood fish.(Too easy:),with reference)
-Overhead light.(easy, with reference)
-Flowers in vase.(could be any difficulty)
-Heater.(intermedate)
-Calender.(easy)
-Light switch.(easy)
-Window sill.(easy to intermediate)
-Guitar with amp.(intermediate to advanced)
-Cat.(intermediate)
-Rhia.(intermediate to advanced)
-Cut milk quartz(intermediate)

New props:
This part is for models that you want to model that arn’t alrady in the list. Just tell me what you want to model and I’ll see if it will be able to fit.

None so far.

All references are at the bottom of the post.

Here’s a render. All I did was put the render settings up some and then put an area lamp in the window. Tell me what you think.

EDIT: Added a new pic that has been post processed.

Have modeled the light for you, the bulb that I am using was created last week and it should be at the top somewhere of focussed critique forum.

Having troubles with texturing for yafray, Not sure what kind of light you wanted, so I have took a sphere, taken off some of the bottom vertices, created the inside, squashed in z direction (downwards). Added bulb, added wire etc.

Well, I’m back to this project. Here we have a special edition, called,“Intro to Renderman(R) Interface Part Two”.

Rendered with Pixie. Exported using Blenderman.

Well, here is a picture of Rhia’s head, the first being the original, and the
second being postproed.

I got the Makehuman shaders, which I got from their site:
http://www.dedalo-3d.com/index.php
(Man, those are some big honkin’ boobs!)

And here’s how it works:
http://makewiki.aleppax.it/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/User/MHskinShader

My main problem right now is that I’m trying to get Ambient Occlution or Global Illumination to work with my head, so I can get some Indirect Illumination. But no luck, right now. If anyone could tell me how to do it, here’s the source Rib file:

Sorry, I can’t seem to format it. I looked at the Pixie wikie, but got really confused. I guess I’ll try some other day.

I also did some stuff with the room, but nothin major. I’m thinking of maybe rendering this animation with Pixie…

The pictures didn’t work, imageshack seems to be down, so I’ll just upload them to the forum.

The pic with the black background is post-proed. The one with the white is the regular rendered with Pixie. See above post for additioal info.

Well, I returned to Yafray, seeing as how it’s so well integrated into Blender.

http://img333.imageshack.us/img333/8512/10ze4.jpg

What do you think of this render?

It looks good.
I think it could use few additions/changes, adding of window and different texture to outside wall, since its same as wall paper.

edit added->
If you do decide to make a window adding it as a node would be one way to do it, so it would not be like allmost whole scene is rendering through object.

No reply in a long time. I basicly just want to keep this from getting automaticly locked. I’m mostly working on the head. Lot’s to do. This is my 6th version of the head texture (still in production), I edited the mesh a lot, too, and this is rendered in Blender Internal, with a manualy made shader of nodes. C&C please.

http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/8415/rhia10fo0.th.jpg

I’ve been practicing with Pixie a lot, and am thinking of rendering with that, instead. It would probibly be best. Only problem being orginizing all the different objects. I really need to name everything.

Here’s one with Yafray.
