Upbge - 0.3.0

Hi guy, hope you doing well, we are almost there, i wanna ask some help: i finaly found the LOD option in the object menu, but as soon as i use it with a particle system, it crash. i think of the scatter object addon (the one who came by default in blender) but it doesn’t show in the search menu, so i can’t use it, since you need to use the search menu in order to trigger the feature. same for LOD, it doesn’t show on the search menu. i work on this, and i really wanna do it in UPBGE and optimise it:

LOD on instances would be slick

also a passing the vertex color of the mesh that emits it, or the face vertex color average
to the object info node would be cool.

updates ? i want to download the new upbge 3.0 version and test it out :wink:

there has been some work with components by mysticfall - there has been some bug fixes by loki
and youle,

and rebases on master adding new features (blender 2.9x features)

Wonder how many use this version? Like professional usage … guess many are stuck with the 2.5 version that keeps being improved, due to the fact it has more users. Wonder what would happen if Upbge 3.0 would get some big users upgrade ! :rofl: Maybe for some is time for a hardware upgrade or something ? As time passes by we tend to forget the fact that the new Blender has an updated game engine, and that’s Upbge 3.0. Waited so much for a new Blender, when it came out i dislike it as a whole. Now i can never get back to the old version 2.7 ui and stuff, once i got used to 2.9 versions. Guess this would happen with 3.0 Upbge, once people get used to the new thing!

I guess most of us are waiting for the first stable version to be released :man_shrugging:

Upbge is super fun,

I and others have made serious demos,
and hypersomniac is socketing the render to call vulkan or GL making it cross platform by default I think

Sébastien needs to learn to chill.

There is activity all the time and the engine gains new power from BF master and Loki and Youle and also now mystic fall =D

I was wondering, is anything like the Depth Transparency feature from UPBGE 0.2.5 planned for either Blender 2.9+ or UPBGE 0.3+? :thinking:

Or is it even feasible?

I would assume you pre-bake this and then just play the resulting .vdb file in your UPBGE game (as there is no game engine on the market that can generate physically accurate smoke and fluid on the fly, not without some major compromises and shortcuts).

A word of warning, the cache files can become huge (fluid files for instance can be over a gigabyte in size for a simulation lasting a few seconds). An UPBGE arcade game making heavy use of such may end up rivaling Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 in download size.
