We don’t have a post count or join date?

I am not a common serf…

Where is my power level over 18,000?

@BluePrintRandom
Look in https://blenderartists.org/u/username/summary if you must get the ruler out. :ok_hand:

they should migrate the old data eh?

As @LoboTommy said, all the information is still on your profile, see here.

Can we have the data under the avatar like we used to?

No. These values give a false sense of value to usernames. Just because a person has posted here more or registered here longer ago, that doesn’t mean their posts are more relevant, valuable, or helpful.

You can still click on someone’s avatar to bring up their usercard and the info is still there. But I agree that the join date doesn’t have any ‘value’ for the conversation. It also adds clutter.

nope, I don’t agree here,
when I see a question asked by a new user (I can see that from his join date and posts), I will try to answer in a detailed way, looking from the point of view of a new user: otherwise with a navigated user, i can give for granted his general knowledge.

They are simple details, but they do help conversation.

This is an interesting and somewhat valid point. Though a new forum member isn’t necessarily a new Blender user. Also, I’m pretty sure most people don’t use join date and post count in the positive, productive way that you do. In my (admittedly biased) experienced, most people use those numbers as a way of unfairly ranking posts.

I think it is important,
People are proud of their dedication,

I earned those posts helping people, or fighting trolls.

saying it has no meaning or relevance is a lie.

On the one hand, showing the number of posts each user has can be seen as a rough approximation of experience in some cases. The join date being shown can show experience in some cases as well (it’s more likely for new members to be new to Blender and CG in general than veterans).

On the other, the post count as an indicator of a member’s seniority or experience can be heavily dependent on content. Not having post counts displayed can also help eliminate the “go post count go” mentality that some might have (posting many messages light on content in order to boost the stat).

I’m sorry. It would be more accurate to say that the meaning most people ascribe to those values is inaccurate and harmful to productive discussion.

Having a post count of 10,000 may not be an indicator of experience if those posts were in the off-topic forum telling the world what music you have been listening, than if those posts were in the support forums.

Post count and account age are an unreliable measure of user experience or reliability.

how about we show number of likes, and medals.:medal_sports:

medals are assigned by a person who has a problem solved to the problem solver?

[solved] :ballot_box_with_check:

Let’s rephrase the question. Why is game-like user ranking important to you?

People with high karma can be tapped to be mods, or run monthly projects, etc.

It’s like currency in a sharing economy.

There’s a ‘Trust Level’ system that gives regular and highly engaged users extra privileges and lets them start taking on moderation-related tasks.

In fairness to the moderation team, we’re pretty good at knowing which active forum members we’d tap to offer moderator status or run a project… and none of that has anything to do with medals or rank.

I moderate a discord server.

what you do is not moderation, I am sorry. You let people insult people and spend hours telling them why their choice is not a good one,
(in situations that are a matter of opinion)

you allow fanboys to jump all over the ge section… I don’t think moderator would be as good of a description as ‘zoo keeper’

You’re welcome to your opinion.
