We’re restricting the promotion of NFT’s on Blender Artists

o.k… thanks

NFT is a game changer for all of us, that’s not why I’m here. Blender.org accepts cryptocurrency as a part of its donation program. NFTs can be a good source of donations to Blender.org (and this website) as smart contract can be programmed to give portion of proceeds to Blender org’s wallet address.

NFT is also about building community with common interests, some has to do with social issues for example. I came here to look for any existing Blender artists based NFT community that promote arts created with Blender and giving back to the community through selling NFTs.

If there isn’t one already, perhaps this community can start one with requirements of smart contracts must contribute to Blender community.

Fruit for thoughts.

Yeah, this is why NFTs often feel like a scam to prey on gullible artists. When you look at all the artists who’ve had commissioners balk at paying them even minimum wage, it gets really hard to believe that this entire time, there’s been a huge market of wealthy people who have secretly wanted to support artists with an obscene amount of money and just couldn’t figure out how to use patreon or take them up on commissions (and then pay them).

But they’d really have us believe once we pay to have the image’s hyperlink is embedded in block chain, now all those wealthy art lovers will suddenly pay artists thousands or even millions of dollars, for work they wouldn’t have before (and still won’t unless you buy into the crypto game. And maybe still won’t after).

I’m curious what the statistics are for success: what percentage of artists make the kind of money crypto enthusiasts promise, and what percentage fail to break even on their gas fees let alone their labor? The number of people with thousands of dollars of disposable income who interested in paying that for a jpg or gif can’t possibly be as high as the number of tokens being minted constantly.

I don’t see a lot of that digital scarcity that’s supposed to make things valuable in the NFT market, but I definitely see way more artists trying to sell NFTs than I see people talking about wanting to buy NFTs. Even crypto enthusiasts who defend NFTs rarely mention buying them themselves.

Just a quick note that I’ll be strict about off-topic posts here. The subject is our policy on NFTs, for anything else you can open a topic in #general-forums:off-topic-chat .

Good move.

Good.
I’m sure his aim is to get a cut as ‘working costs’ or whatever.

Thank you so much. Finally some changes, people can make a living out of nft ok but this site is for showcasing great artworks from the community. For me it is kinda of a scam but still thank you so much for this change.
