Space Probe Drone

Having a cold, so to fight the everlasting boredom sitting at home, i doodled out a space ship thingy. Broad idea was to have a drone which pokes asteroids for whatever reason. Kinda what Osiris did. I had a different type of drone in mind while i built it, like a probing drone for asteroids or something like that, but on the way ended up with a welding drone.
I used my own kitbash from previous projects and modeled the ship hull newly.

Rendered in cycles in about 2 minutes at 128 samples- used denoising to clear out the image.
Postprocessing done in Blender as well. Watermark with gimp.

Cool concept but ever heard of cold welding?

That pilot is too cool for cold welding
“just has to look nice” approach was followed.

Backstory could be I suppose that it’s a niche equipment for hot large scale industrial welds in low gravity or high orbital velocity hostile atmospheric conditions. I.e. not in straight up empty vacuum of space but in upper atmosphere of gas giants or something.
