Why looks my bottle not realistic?

Hi,

i created a PET bottle, but it looks not as real as I want. Any ideas what I can change/ so that it looks more realistic? Yes, I use a HDRI.

Maybe make it a little bit more glossy but I think it’s rather realistic
Also the HDRI is rather simple, it makes the reflection a bit poor, maybe it’s something that plays on your impression?
And you could add some bubbles, some discrete finger prints on the surface…

It’s not that bad though, my advise is try to change the background material (try to make it a bit brighter) and play with light sources, in my opinion, whether your scene will be looks good or bad mostly depends on the light settings.

Also check out about 3 point lighting thing, it could help you to make your scene looks a way better. You can find about it more on youtube.

How big is the bottle?

Also in real the plastic to have some thickness and the liquid does fill the inner part of the bottle… this may sound obvious but for example modeling hollow cylinder and incorect IOR (and complete shader) for the liquid ( and plastics) also have their influence…

Maybe you also check some of the tricks and tweaks mentioned here (just one example):

…or any other tutorial you may find…

…there was also a discussion about the proper settings (and overlapping…) using a thick glass and the liquid here:

Hey, here are some thoughts, hope it helps.

  • The backgrounds bumps are too large and give a wrong impression of the bottles scale.
  • There is no translucency at all in the liquid
  • The bottle has no thickness
  • The specular highlights are a tad too blurry IMO, reduce the roughness abit
  • There’s no label on it.
  • The cap is too smooth and simple and should be rougher
