You Used To Call Me On My Shell Phone

I created this piece in 2020. I used Blender, Flip Fluids, and After Effects for compositing.

The technical stats:

  • Resolution: 600
  • Subdivisions: 1
  • Particle scale: 1.1
  • Turned on Foam, bubbles, spray and dust particles on.
  • 3 million Wavecrest emission rate
  • 1 million turbulence emission rate
  • 500K dust emission rate
  • Spray emission speed 1, min energy speed 1, max energy speed 10
  • Max particles 12 million.

Total Cache: 120gb

Total Bake Time: 24 hours

Total Render Time: 24+ hours (Multiple crashes, had to render out in multiple passes)

Awesome work! Only critique I have is, i guess it would look even better when there is some motion on the table and the background. Just some movement of the leaves in the wind in the bg and maybe some little motion on the leaves on the table, just to give it a little more balance.

nontheless, the waves/ocean-scene is just incredible. I really, REALLY like the whole idea. Good work, mate!

Very nice work! I love diorama-style renders. This is also a good way to utilize the limited scale of high detail fluid sims. 120gb of cached data and a 24 hour sim… you can imagine how heavy a full beach scene would be!
