I would like to introduce a model asset collection we are developing for blender (native) and cycles (luxcore possible).
I’m an architect and working on architectural visualization for more than 25 years, and this idea came to extend the actual libraries they are on the market. While I´m migrating from industry-standard workflow 3dsmax + Vray or Corona, to the most awesome tool ever Blender have some trouble at first to fit my needs, models of high quality that can resolve the main view, but close-up shots as well. With really nice design collection models.
So with some colleagues, we started to develop this idea, that we are woking on, trying to develop super high-end quality models, with a huge range of elements, in a really accessible price (not defined yet but we want to almost every person related to archviz or CGI could have a fair access to it).
Idea is to start the release with 250 models, reaching 1000 next year with weekly releases to reach that number from the initial one.
I’ll be updating this post with certain info and new pics!!!
Thanks!
So far we are concerned more about quality than polygon count, always having in mind reach that quality with fewer polygons possible.
Textures we will have 4k and 8k with a texture quality switcher per model prepared for close-up shots, as well displacement on and off switch.
Would realy like to see some kind of LOD as when not in closeups such hi-res models waste memory and are time consuming at render time, especially in animation / real-time context, and not every architect can afford latest “state of art” hardware.
Too often i see “black” mess of over sampled polygons (like 100’s poly for a single pixel) in far view.
Could be a great opportunity to provide something different in that market - “level of detail in mind” crafted objects.
@stephen_leger thanks for your comment! especially because I’m a fan of your work! really a fanatic!
It’s something we have in mind to switch Texture qualities like 2k 4k and 8k depending on the shoot, general view 2k is more than enough, a close up 4k and detail 8k for example, I would try to make it camera sensitive
Thank you ill keep you updated.
BTW you can check this article on which I explain the process using Archipack among other tools
Wonderful stuff! How’s it coming along? I definitely could use something like this. If you look up “3DShaker” on blendermarket, they probably make some of the best models that I have personally seen. I would look at them as a main competitor or to see how you could improve upon what they are already doing to set yourself apart. Good luck!
I know that models, I didn’t try them so I can not say much, so far I know they are converting 3dsky models to Blender format, but I can be mistaken, anyway I don’t see this as competitors always on my experience this always complements that can enrich your asset library, and you can pick what is better or comfier. I have Vegetation add-on and assets as the same as botaniq both really good and complementary on my point of view.
Of course we will try to exel and reach the level but lets see, I dont like much to promise but to do, we are in hard WIP now, so stay tunned
I will be anxiously awaiting the release of your product – I would ask that you add a few “traditional” or timeless pieces – some of us dont do designs that are in the modern style, myself, most of my projects are Log Homes and typically dont have “modern” furnishings, but very traditional
