The winner picks the theme for next week.

If the winner doesn’t supply a theme before Thursday 22:30 GMT, the organizer will select the theme. In this case, the winner’s theme will be used the next time we are lacking a theme on Thursday 22:30 GMT.

Thanks everybody for the votes. I’m thrilled to win and to be in the top row for the first time. I feel like I’ve really made progress and reached a milestone. This is my first BWC win since 2012 when I won BWC #499.7 with a render of a bolt for my then soon to be son’s baby crib. He is now 7 and has recently been learning to use Blender with me.

Congrats @deltaray, beatiful image. I love those polyhedra.

Lovely story about your last win and blendering with your son. Images are gone, though, sadly.

I have mine on my public Facebook 3D album here

Thank you. I found it also here on BA. Nice images you have there, great work.

I just checked. Actually, most of the images are still there (technically). Unfortunately, they don’t show up because something seems to have happened to the image URLs:

This is @deltaray’s current image URL from the 2012 entry:

https://blenderartists.org/uploads/default/original/3X/2/f/2f0b88084407141a6da20b84e4d14ca3cb36fe5f.jpgd=1356375391

If you remove “d=1356375391” from the URLs you get:

https://blenderartists.org/uploads/default/original/3X/2/f/2f0b88084407141a6da20b84e4d14ca3cb36fe5f.jpg

Everything works just fine with this URL:

Not sure how this happened. Maybe @bartv can do something about this.

Looks like that’s a migration issue? It’s been two years, I won’t fix those anymore, sorry.

Understandable  Thanks for all your work for us, Bart.

Interesting, thanks for looking into it.

@deltaray, congrats. Really nostalgic render. Going down memory lane.

I wasn’t satisfied with the initial results that I submitted and found that I was having trouble with opencl functionality due to driver issues, so I fixed that and was able to correct some other issues as well. Thanks to those in the Lighting and Rendering support forum for their help.

  • Made several changes to render settings
  • I changed to area lamps
  • flipped the normals on the 10 sided dice (was inverted for some reason)
  • added some bump mapping to the pencil and beveled it’s long edges
  • Corrected the IOR of the dice to 1.46 which is more realistic for plastic than 1.6.

Congrats for winning!
Nice improvements in that iteration. The last thing to fix in my eyes would be the low-resolution paper texture.
