“There are two main goals for these contests: Fun and Glory.
Fun: You get only 4 days to create a cool image, based on the theme for the week.
Glory: After 2 days of voting, a winner is declared. The winner picks the theme for next week.”
Please remember to state if your entry is pure, open or non-competing.
For details please check out the: CHALLENGE RULES
Btw.: Comments are welcome in both threads (entries/voting). Have fun!
i will say, this is a tough theme. when the theme said, ancient ones, my first thought was archaeology. i wanted to make an image that told a story. i originally had a tomb, but due to the volumetrics, you can’t see it, so i got rid of it. i also wanted to put fire in some of the torches, but for some reason i can’t make fire, the physics aren’t working for me. anyways, i hope you like what i already have. and, if you think you have a solution to my fire problem, here is a thread i made: Fire simulation not working. and if i can get that fixed, ill put the fire in this scene and repost the image here for the contest.
For WC 788, I did a quick sculpt of a Socrates head, but I welcome another opportunity to re-approach the subject with a much different (and hopefully better) result in mind.
Nergal -deity of sunset and lord of the underworld. My concept piece and not representative of the Assyrians and Babylonians images.
Wanted some sculpting practice. Probably subconsciously influenced by Doom. The image is disturbing in a Doom kind of way. All new objects with exception of the dragon claw background pieces. They are the cnc models I made for my dragon theme dry bar cabinet.
all made by me on blender, post processing done on gimp. marked as “open” since the entire background is just a photo collage.
found this site on a cg matter tips video, it’s an ai that generates human faces. the texture for the orc’s face, and the general concept went from this photo:
I thought doing the tentacles would take a while but I remembered how to them from an earlier project. The hardest thing to deal with was CUDA crashes because I modeled this in 1:1 scale… stopped the crashes by increasing volumes step size and lowering max step.
Hah thanks for the vote of confidence.
It’s most definitely full of problems - you’re welcome to it though.
Just a note that the foam attribute & material comes in only when you generate and name the data “foam” in the ocean modifier. I can send the screen of that too if you want.
