ok, so DE 0.04 is closing in. Menus are done, so are the new (not much though) animation when moving forward. Some new textures and enviorment have been added.
But “sadly” this will be the last time for the little dragon. Dragon Evo will be redone very soon. I thought it would be too big for me, but now that I´m getting a bit help and advice from here, I think i can start on it. So, 0.05 will be redone into a complete new enviorment and character.
If you do not wish to read what i intend to do with the game… stop now
DE.
You start out as a boy(17year or so) having dragon blood somehow in your own blood. You wake up one day after having a dream (cutscene) as the game progress you learn more and more about yourself, But something is happening to your body. As you travel the world (quests and premade dialoges) you feel more and more sick. Suddenly you fall to the ground and wings grow out of your body (cutscene). In the end your a dragon… that is the short version. (no, i don´t have the long version :P)
well… It was kinda a surpise, but i was thinking at least that in the beginning he is dreaming of a dragon who is burning an entire village… and in the end… it is he who does it… something like that… i´ll try to see if i can manage to get an alternative ending… but currently not sure if i´m going to proceed with the idea… i have to think about it.
Ok… just wondering… i´m having the dragon to “breathe” fire… so just to make a test i did the add object thing from a hidden layer… and it works… only thing is… it shoots it out in random directions… i´ve tried different settings in the y and x axis… tried to add an empty to the dragons head too. Tried with the L(local) button on and off too. But can´t seem to get it to shoot it the way the dragon is facing…
did you used linV when object was added? if so it might not work very well… at least with my experiences. try instead to use the motion actuator on the object flame (local on). so when it is created\ added to the world it will shoot in the direction you set the motion.
also, if you used collision on the object “flame” it might be that the random directions are because of the collisions right when the objects are added. you could try to use sphere collision with a specific diameter and motion.
ok… thanks. for the help. works a bit better now… might do something else later…
Just doing some sketches for 0.05 wich will be the remake… currently design a town, 1 building and a few other stuff… allthough just on paper… still have to do the models… thats gonna take a while… I figure I will be away for about a week of modeling (at least) before closing in on finishing the town… that be when i´ve finished 0.04 and all the sketches… then I have to texture… oh well… btw how is it… if i have many scenes… that wont slow down the game right? it´s just the objects in the scene your in that slows down the game? like if the level is too big and to many objects the frame rate will lower, but not if you have many scenes that is switched to as you progress/walk right?
Ok, so need people here for this project if somebody is interested in helping. Need 1 to do high detailed modeling for animation and rig them, if you can´t rig then I need somebody who is good with animation to rig the high poly version and do the animation part of the game. Need it for my cutscenes. Texturing? If somebody would like to help there too, then they are welcome. But just pm me or send message here. We are using a bug tracker, so everyone interested will be getting their own username and password so that they can keep up with the group.
edit: tiny little update btw. here are some wip of the main character… probably 10% done with him.
Ok… so some updates. I Really REALLYY suck at texturing, so thought i´d begin with his little “saddl”. Here are the finished textured version of his little saddle/pouch.
Okay… the white is what I haven´t textured yet, and what i have textured so far is just temporary to get the feeling of how he´s going too look like. But it might not be too far off from what I had in mind. But i´ve had the flu for two days now, and probably a few more days, so not much time to work on DE. But I might get an hour or two for texturing.
I think it would be really funny if the ending was something like: after discovering that he was a dragon he felt as if kansas held no worth to him. From that day on he would spend the rest of his days starting flame wars on blenderartists.org/forum.
how much texture space is that saddle taking up. I just can’t see the pixelation in the giant images you posted. It looks the saddle got its own 1024 sheet. You might need to economize your texturing a bit. But i can’t really tell if this is the case from pictures.
Kirado: Cool, thanks, will be reading them. Thanks for the comment.
Jessegp: hm… i think the texture size is somewhat close to 1024 if not bigger :P, I know i´m going to set down the texture quality very soon. Btw, what is kansas? (Can´t know every single english word)
Okay, so will probably be getting some texturing done later today, just woke up.
