Sheer curtains

Project done with BLENDER 2.92 / Cycles. Fabric modeling (curtains, plaid) with Marvelous Designer. The armchair is inspired by a model of Antonio Citterio / Vitra : GRAND REPOS. The 2 books on the foreground are real books and the music record in the background are mine

You know, for me it’s important to have a feedback. Positive or negative.

It looks like a real photo
Aren’t the books a little bit larger than irl? Like for old people?
I couldn’t see any things that would clearly mark this one as 3d-modelled. Though it would look more commonplace if there would be some dust and dirt, like on the edges of the window frame, or dust fuzzes flying in the air or being attached to the chair.

One question, did you model and texturize all the objects (chair, carpet, window+frame, cupboard, cats, floor, picture, guitar) yourself or did you get them from an asset store?

Hello

First thanks for your feedback, it’s very important and I realize that I am not doing it enough

For the books, i choose a big size i have found in the real world. But their position in the foreground has an impact on their proportions.

The only objects i didn’t modelize are the speaker and the guitar in the background (blender kit assets).
And for the window and its frame i use the archipack.

Special mention for the cats : they are inspired by a bookdends of my own book-shelves.

On this project, my goal was to make an animation of floating curtains (may be can i post the movie here? i don’t know if it is allowed) but i definetely agree why you about dust, dirt… i think it is the key of realism. But it’s very difficult to find the right balance between too much or not enough.

Recently i watched a YOUTUBE tutorial by Gleb Alexander about post-processing and i was amazed! It was great to see how he put dust in suspension in the air, grain in the final image etc…

May be it is the difference between a technical process and an artistic process?

These are things that I want to improve in my projects !!!

Thanks for answering
About posting movies, I already saw several posts with movies, like Chess Animation (RBF + Cell Fracture) and March of the Roman Legion - Blender 2.91 Animation .
