Patch to fix this situation:
2.91_right_to_left_transition

Now the transition patch includes adding a default transition of one sec, when there is no time-gap between strips. This allows for adding quick transitions in ex. Multicam edits. Show some love here, if you like that to be added in Blender: https://developer.blender.org/D10207

Hey, this is an awesome feature, I wonder if it could work for storyboards, can you share a bit about how it’s working ?

You just install the script(the pydetect module should be installed automatically). Select a strip and Sequencer > Strip Menu or Context Menu. And wait…

The detection value can be changed in the script(I should expose it at some point). I can imagine you would need to change it for storyboards if all of the backgrounds are white and there wouldn’t be any clear light changes.

Awesome , thanks !
I was so exited I didn’t notice it was an addon that was available  It was something I intended to work on at some point, I’m not sure automatic scene detection is the better approach for my case but thanks to you I can make some quick tests to see if it’s viable or not !

@sozap Some other storyboard scrippets, you may find useful:

If you’re storyboarding in Blender and needs to export to ex. Resolve then this add-on will render an image for each marker and export a fcpxml(v. 1.6) file: https://gist.github.com/tin2tin/d1af292da17d8a4ad8255cbc20ff2dc5

And this add-on will import, into the Sequencer, images and a fcpxml(v. 1.3) exported from ex. Storyboarder: https://gist.github.com/tin2tin/b078e83138ac43d016f83c40526e57f2
(maybe this one needs an update, to current Storyboarder exports)

NB. later versions of fcpxml changes a lot and will not be compatible.

So happy to see all these small (big) changes!

I don’t do a lot of video editing atm, but when I do, this will sure save me from some frustration.
2.93 will be a even bigger leap in features and refinement!

BTW. Thanks for all your hard work @tin2tin ! Your insight and patches are adding a bunch of polish to VSE.

I couldn’t agree more. Sometimes we (me specifically!) all forget, in the midst of venting/complaining/requesting feature X, to thank contributors for adding new features/patches/bug squashing. Thanks, @tin2tin!

@Jaydead @gtomorrow Thanks guys. There are several people behind those changes, but there is room for more contributors. There are many ways to contribute, even for non-coders, by ex. writing docs, testing new features in the alpha builds or by appending wip patches and build yourself or by spreading the word and helping new users out. Anyway, you’re more than welcome to join the VSE chat here: https://blender.chat/channel/vse (if the link doesn’t work in you browser then use this https://blender.chat/ and enter #vse)
